Hello! My name is Miguel Cano, I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico but was raised in Los Angeles, California since the age of 6. I have always been fascinated by cartoons and anime from a very young age. I remember drawing all sorts of Pokemon in elementary school and giving them out to my friends and classmates. I would be approached by other students asking me to draw their favorite Pokemon, so I learned about commissions very early on. This passion for drawing never stopped since most of my homework margins were covered in doodles. These endless doodles led me to create my own original characters and a want to tell their story. I took an animation class in high school and that’s what started my love for making little animations of my characters. Then I took a story telling class and fell in love with the art of telling a story, what entertains people and what will keep them at their edge of their seats waiting for more. Since then I have storyboarded and animated my characters in many different fun scenarios. Animation is a long and tedious process, but when I press play and the animation works as I intended it to work, there is no greater feeling. That is what really pushes me to keep going. I surprise myself everytime I make a new animation and it makes me wonder “What else can I do?” and so I keep going and I keep trying.

My goals are to create a video game and a show for my characters. I love playing video games and I have a lot of fun playing them and I want to create the same thing for my characters. A fun game that everyone can enjoy. I also want to make a show for my characters, not only do I get to really flesh out the story I want to tell but I’d love to have people on the edge of their seats wondering what will happen next! I think art should be fun! I want everything I make to put a smile on people’s faces, my goal is to make you laugh. Although I still want to make art that can make you think and maybe even cry, because what’s art without a little self reflection. I believe every good story should have a moral and a message. Even if it’s just “be a good person” because I feel like we need that in our world right now. The heroes I grew up with fought against social injustices and helped the helpless, I want my heroes to do the same! I want when someone finishes experiencing my art to want to help others or to pass on the kindness, even if it’s the smallest gesture. The stories I want to tell should encourage the audience to be better for themselves, their friends, their loved ones and others who are not like themselves. I hope my art can bring people happiness and bring people together.
